Each year, the members of the Society enact the Great Harvest. It is believed that at one time all the members cooperated in this endeavor. Over the years, however, schisms began to form within the ranks of the Harvest Society, divisions which would eventually give rise to the factions we now know as Reapers and Sowers.

The Factions
The Reapers came to believe that the only way to maintain the balance was to cut down the Erl-King and his children wherever they could be found. The Sowers, meanwhile, reached the conclusion that the balance itself was flawed and causing the world to stagnate. They began working to tear down the old
wards and return all things to the Erl-King, believing that only through the death of this world could a new and better one be born.
